Nonrunner
Caranbola won this a year ago by the narrowest margin from RYEDANE but has a very stiff task this time against the runner-up who is much better off at the weights and can take this from what should prove the best draw if the going remains fast. The latter holds Port Ronan on their run behind Choc'A'Moca here early last month but the latter improved dramatically to score here last week and a 6lb penalty should prevent another big effort. Galpin Junior has also run very well here lately though he likes to front-run and may find that difficult. Bertie Southstreet is only 1lb higher than when scoring at Nottingham on his final start of the last campaign but the consistent Ingleby Star has been looking a few pounds high recently. Desert Strike has won seven times on the all-weather but never on turf while the useful Select Committee has a poor draw unless the ground turns soft in which case he would be the selection.
