In depth

Verdict

Star Magnitude, Remonstrate, and Alcaidesa are three that catch the eye here and we will plump for the first named. John Gosden's colt appears to have the best form on display having finished a close third behind Dr Thong at Doncaster. The form hasn't been franked as yet, but the winner did look a class act and it could turn out to be a decent enough race. The opposition today have shown very little Alcaidesa does appear well held by the selection, but is lightly raced and still open to improvement. The rest have shown very little to date so a major threat could be Remonstrate. Tim Easterby's newcomer is well bred by Alhaarth out of a Selkirk mare so should have the ideal trip and going and should be monitored closely in the market. Of the rest Hawaajes is from a shrewd southern yard and can be expected to improve for his debut run , but Star Magnitude has already shown enough to be the confident choice here.
