Verdict

An interesting contest where there is likely to be speed at both sides of the track and we are going to take the chance that course specialist SELECT COMMITTEE might be good enough to overcome a poor draw and win again here, while King Of Swords, Noodles Blue Boy and Peninsular War are all respected. The John Quinn-trained selection has won twice here in recent times from marks of 58 and 61 and is now racing from 7lbs higher than the latter. Fast ground suits and the course form is a definite plus, though countering that is the draw. The manner of his win last time suggests he may be capable of repeating the dose and we'll chance him. Also drawn low is King Of Swords, and his penchant for a stiff 5f and decent ground should see him to good effect, and he may also help the selection down that side of the track. Spiritofthewest is another with a course win to his name, though he appears to prefer some cut in the ground and a better proposition may be Noodles Blue Boy. The Fasliyanne gelding is 3lbs higher than when scoring at Newcastle and he goes on any ground with good in the description, so he is likely to get heavily involved. Peninsular War is 6lbs better off for a neck with Select Committee, and although that gives him an outstanding chance in theory, he doesn't see out his races that well and it may have flattered him, so we'll oppose. Captain Scooby would prefer some rain, while La Capriosa can get competitive before her mark finds her out, and we'll take Select Committee to score.
