    Verdict

ON THE RIVER beat the subsequent Goodwood winner Rhoscolyn here last month. Ring Of Gold was beaten three lengths in third and a 4lb turnaround in the weights may not be enough to reverse the form. Harriet Bethell’s charge has since flopped at Chester but he was much too free that day and Cam Hardie is back in the saddle this afternoon. Mudamer is tried in cheekpieces but still looks a few pounds too high while Autumn Festival has been paying the price for last year’s exploits but Beltane had excuses last time at Pontefract while it would be no surprise to see the three-year-olds Craven and Metahorse in the firing-line.
