Verdict

Nok Twice can land this modest claimer. Stonehaugh, Le Chiffre and Wiseman's Diamond are others to monitor for signs of interest, while Scotty's Future goes well in this type of race and can never be completely ruled out making the frame. Scotty's Future does have an annoying tendency of leaving himself with too much to do near the finish, though. He is not one for the fainthearted to be supporting. Wiseman's Diamond is consistent enough to take a place on the shortlist and can go well from his low draw. He has an obvious chance on these terms and looks to be his trainer's best chance of a winner for quite some time. Le Chiffre landed the odds in a similar grade on his penultimate start and has a feasible chance if he adapts to racing on turf again. The six-year-old has experience of this course; so should not be dismissed without a second look in the betting. Stonehaugh has been struggling in handicaps of late and this ease in grade is a logical step for him. This is a poor race and he has very little to find to make this a successful visit to Beverley for his trainer Howard Johnston. However, Nok Twice has been showing more enthusiasm of late and, as such this may be his day in the limelight. The Declan Carroll-trained gelding will not mind the state of the ground and his proven well being makes him a solid choice to see the trip out as the best of a bad bunch.
