      Verdict

      Sent off favourite for his reappearance at Thirsk, a big run was expected from ROCK 'N' ROYAL, but he ran as though needing the outing. He started last season on a 14lb higher mark and Richard Fahey's charge can make amends with a bold bid today. Violent Velocity had today's rival Seldom behind when narrowly beaten at Newcastle last week and he'll go close again, while Burns Night is only 2lb higher than when signing off last season with a victory at Musselburgh. However, My Gacho and Handsome Falcon remain out of sorts and Powerful Pierre's only win in 27 starts came over 6f on Polytrack.
