In depth

Verdict

Bressbee has enjoyed a successful time over the winter, winning three races on the Fibresand and then picking up his most valuable prize to date when winning in St Moritz. He is clearly in good heart, but looks one to oppose on this firm ground. Bontadini looks well treated off his current mark of 51 and if he handles this fast ground, would make them all go. However, Compton Drake showed enough on the Polytrack to suggest a small race can come his way and he looks to have been found the ideal opening. His main danger could prove to be Pop Gun, who has already shown he can handle fast ground when beaten just over two-lengths by Concer-Eto at Brighton last year. He can run off the same mark here and with his stable firing on all cylinders, he looks sure to have plenty of support.
