In depth

Verdict

A maiden handicap to close the card and it can go to Merrymadcap ahead of High Rhythm, Kristinor and Shibumi. Shibumi holds a chance based on last year's form and may have needed his latest start. High Rhythm has been knocking at the door of late and remains competitive, while Merrymadcap's Haydock third two runs ago reads very well in the context of this race. Toque ran reasonably well over course and distance last time and has run well from higher marks so really ought to get involved, while a repeat of Kristinor's Chepstow sixth in August in a similar race from a higher mark over a shorter trip, would give him claims. Finally, Ninah holds a chance based on her course and distance seller second to Madam Caversfield on September 8th, but she has had plenty of chances. All in all, then, in a modest race, the vote goes to Merrymadcap in the hope he can repeat his Haydock effort.
