Verdict

A trappy affair where cases can be made for many but we are happy to ride in with SPEED STEED. Tim Vaughan has sent out plenty of summer jumping winners and the Glamorgan handler was unafraid of exploiting what was potentially a plater's mark on the Flat. A rise of 6lb for a course and distance victory won't make life easy, but the six-year-old appears capable of showing his form regardless of the going. The assessor has had Spanish Plume in his grip for some time though it hasn't prevented him running consistently in defeat. Andrew Hollinshead adds the eyeshields in an effort to eek out that final ounce of improvement. Barnacle posted a 25/1 shock on the Fibresand at Southwell but he was well held off this mark on a follow-up bid. Lucky Diva and Flashy Star have campaigned over further than this and the pair should be staying on when others have cried enough.
