In depth

Verdict

LUCKY BEGGAR was beaten a long way despite finishing second on his debut in a conditions race at Newmarket last month behind the unbeaten Baileys Jubilee. It's still the best form on offer, however, and Charlie Hills' colt looks the safest option in this as neither Lobelia nor Rebel Magic stand out on breeding despite making their debuts for a couple of powerful yards. Fellow newcomer Devout is related to a winner but may need further to show her best and last month's Folkestone runner-up Marchwood looks a bigger threat to the selection.
