BRIAN THE SNAIL missed the break here two runs ago. Runs at Carlisle and Newmarket either side of that were decent efforts and suggest the nine-year-old retains plenty of ability. Tom Queally takes over the reins today and the grey is only 2lb higher than when winning at Ripon in June. Gherkin is consistent enough but 0-11 here and last month’s Wolverhampton third First Company makes more appeal. Fair And Square only won a maiden by a head here last week and carries a penalty. That was his first victory in 41 starts and Giddy Aunt is 0-10. Phoenix Glow was beaten off this mark at Lingfield after winning at Brighton and course specialists More Than Likely and Ruby Cottage have been out of sorts.
