In depth

Verdict

Cathal's Star won a Sedgefield handicap four weeks ago but has been punished with an 11lb hike in the ratings. King D'argent wasn’t beaten far at Perth and is only 2lb higher, though that form looks nothing special. The Newest One has proved hard to place but JAVA POINT has had just the two runs so far over hurdles. He’s run well in both and is certain to be suited by the extra half-mile here so gets the nod ahead of the equally-unexposed Mint Condition and General Probus. Wax And Wane, Morning Spirit and Eaton Hill are also worth a second look in an open handicap.
