In depth

Verdict

MONTALBANO looked a smart chasing prospect when scoring on heavy going at Chepstow in January but he's failed to finish in half of his eight starts over fences. He was in touch when falling at Listowel in June and has been given time to get his act together. Flaxen Fare's big day came back in 2013 when he won the Fred Winter at Cheltenham and he's also scored over fences but lacks the scope of the selection. Dysios has had plenty of success in his time but has been badly out of sorts while Velocity Boy hasn't had much racing lately.
