The four-year-old Baltinglass Hill just held on at Killarney but had earlier been beaten 13 lengths behind RICKY BOBBY at Cork. The winner was making his handicap debut and having only his fourth start so, with normal progress, can defy a 9lb rise. Another youngster, Shantou Lucky, wasn't right at Clonmel where he started favourite after landing a Down Royal handicap though a bigger threat may emerge in the shape of the veteran Youngnedofthehill, who has an outstanding record around here.
