In depth

Verdict

Gold Cup Bailly won a beginners chase at Wexford in good style but Captain Quint unseated his rider at the first at Newcastle on Saturday having made a winning start over fences at Hexham. DOCTOR KEN looks a real chasing type and did well to pick off the front-running Ree Okka at Aintree considering he was playing catch-up from a long way out. A mark of 127 here may be underestimating his potential. Hasty Brook, who has twice finished second over hurdles here, is preferred to Donny Boy and No Regrets of the others.
