Monte Cristo is the selection for this trappy contest in which a case can be made for a number of horses. Andy Thornton's mount was a good winner at Haydock last time and appears to be progressing well and with his stable's runners invariably doing well here could be the one to beat. Activist reopposes Monte Cristo but preference is marginally for the former. Saint Par is on a hat-trick after too good efforts in lesser company and has to be respected along with Backcraft who didn't beat a great deal on his most recent outing but couldn't have won more easily. Londoner is out to try and redeem his tarnished reputation but is probably one to be wary of until proving he still retains ability.
