      Verdict

      Neither Intense Romance nor Show Palace has shown much this year. Golden Steps blotted his copybook at Goodwood last week when refusing to race and hasn’t won in more than two years. He did finish ahead of stablemate Oriental Lilly here earlier but the filly is the more reliable proposition and may well reverse the placings, despite the pair meeting on the same terms. MY NAME IS RIO (NAP) split a couple of subsequent winners and was returning from a break when sixth over 6f here 12 days ago. Any ease in conditions would be a plus for Connor Beasley’s mount, who will strip fitter today and is on a decent mark. Elysian Flyer may be the pick of the remainder.
