In depth

Verdict

Alexander Oats only had three opponents to beat when scoring here a month ago but did it nicely enough and should be suited by the longer trip. But LEAC AN SCAIL, whose last success was from a 2lb higher mark in April, looked to be returning to form when runner-up to Dashing George at Sandown and can go one better. The veteran Wild Cane Ridge was probably fortunate to score at Newcastle but the handicapper only raised him 1lb and he's no forlorn hope to complete a double. Another veteran, Lampion Du Bost, could hardly have won more easily on his latest start over the C&D but a massive 14lb rise may put paid to his chance of a repeat. Garleton was also a very easy winner over track and trip last time coming home a distance clear of his rivals. He must be a threat to all despite a 13lb rise though heavier conditions would be an advantage.
