HENPECKED looked like ending frustrating sequence at Doncaster last time before being reeled in late on by Miss Ranger. The Whillans’ mare has gone close of each of her last three starts and, although raised 9lb for those unsuccessful runs, must have a decent chance of notching a deserved success here. She gets on well with her young pilot and is just preferred to top weight Innocent Touch. The latter continues to run his race and has performed creditably at a higher level this season for a yard which continues to churn out the winners. Dark Ruler, brought steadily to the boil this term by Alan Swinbank, completes the short-list especially as he drops back to the distance over which he was last successful at Pontefract in October.
