Plenty of scintillating prospects competing in this renewal of the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes and narrow preference is for Alfathaa ahead of Emmrooz and Achill Island. William Haggas has his stable in fair nick and having scored easily at Newbury last time out, he should give punters a run for their money today. He still looked like he had some growing and filling out to do on that occasion and already proven over this trip, he gets our vote. Emmrooz warrants plenty of respect especially if the market vibes are positive for this son of Red Ransom, whilst Aiden O'Brien's runner's always warrant respect although his charge Achill Island appears more of a long term prospect over middle distances next year. Campanologist scored well last time out but this is obviously tougher, whilst Brian Meehan's pair are both worthy contenders with both stepped up in trip. Ridge Dance needs to improve when not fully impressing in an average handicap when last seen, so whilst the betting will provide further clues, we are happy to side with Alfathaa as the selection.
