Deacon Blues will deservedly be popular as he looks capable of making his mark at a higher level than this; he deserves a change of luck having seldom enjoyed the rub of the green this season. KANAF is the other runner that punters can be expected to latch on to following impressive wins at Lingfield and Sandown. He habitually starts slowly so, like his market rival, will need some luck in running but he has a real turn of foot and is taken to complete his hat-trick. It's interesting to see Jamie Spencer aboard Kellys Eye rather than Deacon Blues but the memories of David Brown's sprinter's victories at Ripon are fast fading and Joe Packet brings stronger, recent claims to the table. Oil Strike, Gouray Girl, Slip Sliding Away and Little Garcon are others worthy of close consideration in a race that has fallen to the favourite or joint-favourite four times in the last five years.
