Sam Spinner relished the step up to 3m at Haydock when well ahead of Grade 1 winner The Worlds End. He’ll need to take another step forward to be competitive here but is only five and might get an uncontested lead so shouldn’t be ignored. UNOWHATIMEANHARRY (NAP) bids for back-to-back victories in a race that has seen multiple winners in the past. The three-times Grade 1 winner had excuses for his defeat at Newbury and beat Lil Rockerfeller 12 months ago with a victory over 3m continuing to elude Neil King’s charge, though he got the better of L'Ami Serge over shorter here last time. The latter is one of two saddled by Nicky Henderson but Thomas Campbell could find this company too hot. Taquin Du Seuil is held by the selection on Newbury running and it’s even harder to fancy Agrapart and Ubak.
L'Ami Serge (IRE) 7-2 (11-6) Shade keen, held up last, closer in 4th 3 out, pushed along and outpaced before 2 out, went 3rd after 2 out, kept on same pace run-in, went 2nd last strides, never able to challenge, 2nd of 5, 1 1/2l behind Lil Rockerfeller (11-0) at Ascot 2m 3f (1) gs in Nov.
Lil Rockerfeller (USA) 9-4 (11-0) Tracked leader until 4th, chased leading pair, 2nd again 4 out, ridden to lead narrowly 2 out, over 1 length ahead last, driven and kept on gamely run-in, won at Ascot 2m 3f (1) gs in Nov beating L'Ami Serge (11-6) by 1 1/2l, 5 ran.
Sam Spinner 6-1 (10-9) Made all, clear when not fluent 2 out, ridden out flat, stayed on well, comfortably, won at Haydock 2m 7f hcp (1) hvy in Nov beating The Dutchman (10-5) by 17l, 16 ran.
Taquin Du Seuil (FR) 33-1 (11-0) Tracked leaders in 4th, outpaced before 2 out, switched left and plugged on into 3rd last, never going pace to challenge, 3rd of 6, 6l behind Beer Goggles (11-0) at Newbury 3m (1) sft in Dec.
The Worlds End (IRE) 5-1fav (11-5) Mid-division, tracked leaders 4 out, outpaced before next, never on terms, weakened 2 out, 8th of 16, 33 1/4l behind Sam Spinner (10-9) at Haydock 2m 7f hcp (1) hvy in Nov.
Thomas Campbell 13-8fav (11-10) Tracked leaders, went 2nd before 2 out, led briefly between last 2, ridden to lead again flat, stayed on well closing stages, won at Cheltenham 3m 1f hcp lst (1) sft in Nov beating Anteros (10-4) by 2 1/2l, 9 ran.
Ubak (FR) 9-1 (11-4) Held up mid-division, headway before 3 out, outpaced from 2 out, plugged on and no impression, 4th of 9, 13 1/4l behind Unowhatimeanharry (11-4) at Newbury 3m (1) sft in Nov.
Unowhatimeanharry 7-4 (11-6) Tracked leading pair, pushed along before 2 out, went 2nd after 2 out, kept on same pace run-in, never going pace to challenge, 2nd of 6, 2 1/4l behind Beer Goggles (11-0) at Newbury 3m (1) sft in Dec.
Agrapart (FR) (10-10) 7th of 9, 37 3/4l behind Alex De Larredya (10-10) at Auteuil 3m gd in Nov.
