Verdict

SAFFRON BEACH finished runner-up to Mother Earth in last year’s 1000 Guineas but Jane Chapple-Hyam’s filly reversed running in no uncertain terms when landing the Group 1 Sun Chariot at Newmarket in October. Though beaten at Meydan subsequently, she may well defy a penalty in this and confirm running with the Ballydoyle charge, who ran below par in the Lockinge and is fitted with cheekpieces. The Group 3 winner Bashkirova takes another step up in class having won nicely at Epsom while Saint-Cloud Group 2 winner Sibila Spain is preferred to compatriot Kennella. Novemba won last year’s German 1000 Guineas for Peter Shiergen before running well in the Coronation Stakes here but Primo Bacio has plenty to find with the selection and Thunder Beauty looks up against it.
