To help clarify the conundrum of a compellingly competitive King's Stand Stakes, we turn to official ratings, with Frizzante getting the call ahead of the likes of The Tatling, The Trader and Majestic Missile. The James Fanshawe-trained mare has proven very progressive this season, improvement that brought success in the Group 3 Palace House Stakes at Newmarket last time. Much as she will need the gaps to appear for her, she is worth taking a chance on as she does possess a turn of foot and will be ridden by Johnny Murtagh, who achieved a notable success in this race last year with Choisir. The Trader was narrowly denied in a Group 2 race on good to soft going at Chantilly last time, a race in which The Tatling finished two lengths behind him in fourth. That race was won by Avonbridge, who was short-headed by the selection in the Palace House, literal form that gives her the edge over her rivals. Majestic Missile won the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes over course and distance last season and, while he has yet to race this year, with Kieren Fallon booked, is unlikely to have been left short for it. Nights Cross has something to find on that form, while Lochridge, whose mother won this race in 1994, and Boogie Street are closely weighted on recent Kempton form, although both have a few pounds to find on official ratings. With Hong Kong raider Cape Of Good Hope and a number of popular favourites from the British racing game lining up to ensure a fast-and-furious pace for the King's Stand, a great spectacle lies in store. It will not be straightforward for Frizzante, but we take her to continue her upward curve of progress and land the Group 2 prize.
