A terrific renewal but the home team will do well to repel a strong Irish challenge. All recent winners had been successful in their previous race so though Mehmas clearly wasn't suited by dropping back to 5f in the National Stakes he's possibly worth opposing. Mark Johnston and William Buick teamed up to win this last year with Buratino and Yalta won very easily at Pontefract last month, though the runner-up finished last at Doncaster on Sunday. Naas second Lundy will be Joseph O'Brien's first Royal Ascot runner but father Aidan is the trainer to follow in this Group 2 having saddled the winner on seven occasions. CARAVAGGIO (NAP) beat Lundy on debut at Dundalk and followed up in a Listed race at the Curragh. He will relish the step up to 6f and looks the one to beat, though Psychedelic Funk has also been most impressive in his two runs to date and is a big danger. Grand Coalition and the once-raced Van Der Decken are other Irish runners who look to have plenty of ability while Broken Stones, Nibras Bounty and Thunder Snow could be the pick of the remainder.
