Jordan Sport beat a good yardstick at Windsor and was third over this track and trip earlier. Despite a 7lb rise, he’ll be hard to keep out of the frame, especially if there is more rain. Projection is usually thereabouts in races of this nature but he always seems to find a way of getting beat. Nobly Born is lightly raced but has had every chance off this mark in his last three and still only has a maiden success to his name. York winner Get Knotted was only fourth off this mark at Doncaster later and is better over further but Bossipop was just beaten by a subsequent winner last time at Chester and is in good form. MERLIN may not want the ground to deteriorate further as he couldn’t quicken on soft going at Newmarket last time. But his overall profile remains progressive and he has a decent 3lb claimer on board. Gulliver is infuriating as he often shows little interest before staying on in the closing stages but he’ll pop up somewhere at decent odds when everything falls into his lap, though Josie Gordon prefers Aventinus.
