Saeed bin Suroor has won the last two renewals but Hidden Gold will have to improve on his latest second at Pontefract to figure in what is a hugely-competitive handicap. Battersea looks progressive and had subsequent winners Swivel, one of four Mark Johnston entries today, and Galizzi behind when scoring over course and distance in July. But he doesn't appear to have been done any favours by the draw and Second Step, third at Goodwood after a couple of wins at Newbury, and last month's Leicester winner Gothic will also start out wide. Agent Murphy will have to prove his stamina, however, and Satellite is proving a big disappointment.
