Michael Dods won this last year with Intense Romance, who goes again, but looks to have a much better chance this time with DAKOTA GOLD. After a landing trio of victories, two at York and the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon, she only just failed to concede 3lb to Maid In India in a Group 3 at Newbury and this represents a drop in class. She won't mind the conditions but Danzeno, who was beaten just under two lengths by her in a Listed contest on the Knavesmire, has always looked best in faster conditions. Maygold was receiving 10lb when beating Arecibo in a soft-ground Haydock handicap last month, when Intense Romance was only sixth, and isn't certain to confirm the form while Tis Marvellous has never won on ground this testing. Stake Acclaim won a handicap on soft going in the spring so shouldn't be dismissed.
