    Verdict

Charlie Appleby saddles four of the 11 declared runners in this and the Godolphin colours are also worn by the in-form Night Of Luxury so a sizeable chunk of the prize money could be winging its way back to Newmarket. The lightly-raced First Ruler, already a winner at Doncaster and Ascot, is likely to be among the market leaders while Al Nafir ran well at York, despite racing keenly, and Harry Davies’ claim is a plus. FRANTASTIC wandered under pressure at Newbury but still won a shade cosily. Cheekpieces should help him concentrate better and he may be about to fulfil early potential. Chairman still looks to be heading in the right direction and an opening mark of 87 may have underestimated the lightly-raced Southwell winner La Yakel.
