Verdict

Arclight won her first two and Bad was strongly fancied for the Boodles at Cheltenham last month but refused to settle and faded out of contention on the run to the last, though it later transpired that he’d lost a shoe. It would be no surprise if he produced a stronger performance here and reversed that form with the likes of Mr Freedom, Afadil and Fils De Roi. CHAOS CONTROL finished behind subsequent winner Despereaux and Polyphonic in the Chatteris Fen at Huntingdon but was ridden much more positively when recording a fast time at Market Rasen. Ciaran Gethings prefers him to Bluegrass and he should give supporters a run for their money in a wide-open renewal. Dermot Weld’s Grappa Nonino beat a subsequent winner at Navan so is respected along with Penna Rossa, who beat Havaila on the same terms at Sandown in December.
