Following wins at Towcester and Stratford in May, Montys Tag returned to action with another success at Newbury last month when beating useful yardstick Folly Road by 11 lengths. In his current vein of form, the 10-year-old has obvious claims of recording a fourth successive success. However, the burden of a hefty penalty and the concession of weight to his rivals may prove to be his undoing in this company. Caroline Bailey's Red Rebel, who beat Route One at Leicester last time, also has a double penalty to shoulder and may not be up to the task. Admiral Rose, who was going well when unseating his rider at Stratford last month, and the unexposed Friar Waddon are others to consider but the one that gets the vote is Miss O'Grady. Sally Alner's mare has been a progressive performer this term and, in receipt of weight, she looks the one to beat.
