Verdict

MERCHANT OF VENICE fell short at Kempton attempting a four-timer but only by a length and still beat Key Player, Medieval, Biotic and Sir Plato. An apprentice’s 5lb allowance could make the difference today and James Fanshawe’s charge gets another chance. Juanito Chico won easily at Nottingham recently but has been raised 7lb while Candelisa made a winning return over 7f at Leicester on his first start after wind surgery. Poetic Force and Blame Culture have been in good form on artificial surfaces and are preferred to others arriving from the all-weather such as Letsbe Avenue, First Link and Motajaasid. Ambient was placed at Nottingham last time but has yet to win in 24 attempts and Isomer is preferred having won over track and trip in September.
