Verdict
Perhaps not the most competitive start to a fine card and a chance for CURRENT EVENT to make a winning debut for Paul Nicholls. The trainer himself has said he's looking forward to seeing this one run as he'd beaten another from the yard, who has won over here since, when last seen in France. That Listed hurdle form looks above the achievements of others and the ground is expected to suit. Midnight Opera and Brother Bob have identical ratings and look worth considering, more so the latter whose recent second to Drill Sergeant looks solid enough form. Vannin had little excuse when disappointing at Hexham and has a bit to prove as does Laterly, although Steve Gollings' horse is a capable flat performer who should leave behind his old hurdles form now tried in cheekpieces.
