With only How Ran On looking to have little chance at the weights, a confident selection is difficult to pin down. Chergan is enjoying something of a renaissance period and although he is 8lb higher than he was for his win at Haydock last month, he still makes plenty of appeal here. He has been the model of consistency of late and being dropped back in trip does not seem to have affected his performances. Noshinannikin was unlucky to be carried out last time and should also go close if he can avoid trouble in running this time. But he in turn is 4lb higher than he was for his last victory and will have to overcome a career-highest rating to prevail. Bleu Superb has a little to prove after being pulled up last time, but he has dropped to an attractive looking mark and should fare a little better back over this trip. Whereas Ashwell Boy owes nobody anything at this stage of his career but it would be a terrific weight carrying performance if he were to come out on top.
