Midnight Shadow was only beaten a head in a Listed race on a similar surface at Haydock two weeks ago but he does have to give 6lb to MONT DES AVALOIRS, who would have been a wide-margin winner on his hurdling debut at Wincanton had he not tipped up at the last. The latter looks a nice prospect so gets the nod as though The Last Day won easily at Chepstow, that form has yet to be franked.
