Tiger Roll showed he was no back number when running away with the Glenfarclas at Cheltenham last month, recording a fifth Festival victory in the process. He runs in this rather than carrying a big weight in one of this week’s Grand Nationals but it’s asking a lot of him to match strides with some proven Grade 1 chasers. Native River was never really going the pace in the Gold Cup but kept on to finish fourth under a typically-persistent Richard Johnson and well ahead of Aso. Jonjo O’Neill Jnr now rides the 11-year-old but he could find some of these too fleet-footed as well. Clan Des Obeaux was second in this in 2019 and by-passed Cheltenham this year but he has six lengths to find with WAITING PATIENTLY, also a previous Grade 1 winner and a very respectable second in the King George in December when trying 3m for the first time. Ruth Jefferson’s 10-year-old got taken off his feet dropped in trip again in the Clarence House. Mister Fisher was let down by his jumping in the Ryanair and stamina may be an issue but Clondaw Castle produced a career-best when winning a Grade 3 handicap at Kempton in February and did run well in the Old Roan here in the autumn.
