In a classy event, Detroit City is favoured ahead of Afsoun and Turko. Detroit City looked a juvenile novice of immense potential when landing the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham and quite clearly is the one they all have to fear today. His stablemate Fair Along was beaten five lengths into second on that occasion, and Pace Shot was beaten nine-and-a-half lengths into fourth, and both are respected, but Afsoun, who had a hiccup in the build up to the contest and was beaten 13-and-a-half lengths into fifth at Cheltenham, might fare better today. Irish raider Cogan Lake was travelling well when taking a tumble in a Fairyhouse Grade 3 contest last time and is also respected. Finally, Shamayoun sprang a surprise in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham and, whilst more will be needed today, he is entitled to some consideration, as is the Triumph sixth, Turko, who had looked smart earlier in the season. All in all, it is a good contest, with the vote given to Detroit City.
