The Seattle Seahawk's have a 79-yard punt return taken away after a penalty and then suffer a safety by the Atlanta Falcons

How does a team run 79 yards and lose two points? The Seattle Seahawks managed it on Saturday night against the Atlanta Falcons.

In an explosive divisional match-up, a huge play in the second quarter changed the momentum of the game. With the Seahawks leading 10-7, Seattle's defence help Matt Ryan and the Falcons offence to a three-and-out.

The home side sent the ball back to Seattle specialist punt returner Devin Hester, who was signed at the end of the regular season as cover after Tyler Lockett was ruled out with a broken leg.

Hester repaid the faith shown in him by taking the ball back 78 yards and setting up a first down at the Atlanta 10-yard line. However the run was chalked off, after an offensive holding penalty called on linebacker Kevin Pierre-Lewis.

Instead, Seattle had to start from inside their own ten-yard line, but it got worse, as rookie guard Rees Odhiambo stood on Russell Wilson's feet, causing the quarterback to stumble and fall back into his own end zone.

Grounding the ball gifted Atlanta a two-point safety, as well as possession. The Falcons took advantage, scoring 19 uninterrupted points on the way to a 36-20 victory, booking their place in the NFC Championship game.
