Dion Lewis etched his name into the history books, not once but twice, as the New England Patriots beat the Houston Texans.
Lewis missed the first nine games of the season with a knee injury, and was a bit-part player down the stretch, as head coach Bill Belichick used the running back sparingly in his offence, easing him back into the line-up.
It was a different story on Saturday night as Lewis, who has never lost a game in his two years in the NFL, became a focal point of the attack.
He saw much of the action early, and opened the scoring with a 13-yard short pass from quarterback Tom Brady. On a lateral pass, Lewis accelerated up the sideline and into the end zone, with just five minutes gone.
With a minute left play in the period, Lewis created play-off history, returning a kick-off 98 yards to become the only player to have scored a touchdown and return TD in the same quarter.
There was more to come in the fourth quarter, when Lewis added a third score, this time a one-yard rush, making him the first player in the post-season to score from a reception, a running play, and a return.
Not a bad night for a player who hasn't had a touchdown since October, 2015. The Patriots ran out 34-16 winners, clinching a spot in the AFC Championship game for a sixth straight year.
