Myles Garrett selected by Cleveland Browns in 2017 NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns had the first pick of the 2017 NFL draft and they went with Defensive end Myles Garrett.

Defensive end Myles Garrett became the first player taken in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Despite rumours that the Cleveland Browns were willing to trade the no. 1 pick, head coach Hue Jackson and general manager Sashi Brown decided to stick with top spot.

Garrett had a stellar college career, excelling at Texas A&M. As a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Garrett had made a plea for owner Jerry Jones to trade up and pick him, but looked happy to be the newest member of the Browns as he celebrated in Texas, surrounded by his family.

The Browns had another pick at number 12, but decided to trade out of the pick, handing it to the Houston Texans. Cleveland have also been linked with a move for Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Last year, Cleveland won just one game all year, beating the San Diego Chargers in week 16. Garrett will be hoping that his influence can improve fortunes for the Browns, who haven't made the play-offs since the 2002 season.
