Sale have opted to drop captain Mark Cueto for Friday's clash with Gloucester ahead of his RFU disciplinary hearing.
England winger Cueto will go before the panel on Monday after he was cited for "making contact with the eye or eye area" of Northampton's Christian Day.
As a result Paul Williams comes in on the flank for the Aviva Premiership encounter.
Coach Pete Anglesea has also made two further changes with Andy Tuilagi and Sean Cox coming in for Kyle Tonetti and David Seymour.
And Anglesea believes it is vital that his side improve their discipline against the LV= Cup champions.
"This is another tough game for us against one of the form teams in the Premiership," said Anglesea.
"They are coached by former Sharks captain Bryan Redpath and have a good side who like to play rugby. They have one trophy in the cabinet having won the LV=Cup the other week and I believe they will finish in the top four.
Mistakes
"However if we can play as we did for the first 50 minutes at Northampton last week and cut out the mistakes and tighten up on our discipline we will be okay. We have been hit by injuries and illness this week but the players are looking forward to the challenge."
Gloucester have made four changes to their line-up for the visit to the Sharks.
Olly Morgan, Henry Trinder, Scott Lawson and Dave Attwood all return to the starting XV, while there are further positional changes as Tim Molenaar moves to inside centre and Freddie Burns starts at fly-half.
On the bench Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu comes in as Nicky Robinson misses out due to a hamstring injury.
And coach Bryan Redpath said: "The boys coming in have got to put their hands up and understand what an away game mentality is. But the players who have come in recently have stepped up pretty well.
"We've had some good wins away from home this year and we have to make sure that our mental focus and our away mentality are spot on.
"How you approach it, how you conduct yourself in an away environment, with referees, with field position, with control and discipline. That's going to be key to winning away from home."
