Newcastle coach Alan Tait has opted to name a youthful-looking side for the trip to Stade Yves du Manoir in the Amlin Challenge Cup.
Having beaten Bourgoin in the opening round of games, Tait has made five changes in total to his side.
Teenage fly-half Joel Hodgson will make his first start in a Falcons shirt in place of the injured Jeremy Manning, while there are also call ups for Andy Henderson, Chris Pilgrim, Kieran Brookes and Redford Pennycook.
Gcobani Bobo is out injured, with Micky Young, Micky Ward and Mark Wilson making way.
Young and Wilson drop to the bench, where they are joined by rising star Tom Catterick.
Montpellier have made five changes to their starting XV for the visit of the Falcons.
Pierre Bérard, Grant Rees, Santiago Fernandez, Lionel Dargier and Na'ama Leleimalefaga come into the side following the 20-13 victory over Exeter.
