The Dragons edged past Edinburgh 9-8 in their Magners League clash at Murrayfield on Sunday, courtesy of three penalty kicks by fly-half James Arlidge.
Andrew Turnbull scored a fine late try for the home side and coupled with Phil Godman's penalty it set up a dramatic finale.
But Edinburgh eventually ran out of steam and endured a frustrating narrow one-point defeat against bogey side, the Dragons.
Underneath persistent rain, Edinburgh grafted hard, but could not get the ball over the line - despite dominating the entire second half with some inventive rugby.
The conditions also affected the attendance with just 2,000 ticket holders witnessing Edinburgh's third defeat of the season in the Magners League.
Godman missed a conversion and a drop-goal, while flanker Scott Newlands almost bundled over from close range.
