Wakefield notched eight tries as they secured a comprehensive 44-22 victory over Widnes in their rearranged Super League fixture.
Snow had caused the original game to be postponed three months ago but, in the sunshine at the Mobile Rocket Stadium, Tom Johnstone, Bill Tupou (twice), Ben Jones-Bishop, James Batchelor, Tinirau Arona and Reece Lyne (twice) all got over for tries.
Widnes did not score a point in the first half, before Stefan Marsh, Danny Walker, Alex Gerrard and Ryan Ince notched tries during the second period, but it was far too little.
The victory sees Trinity move four points clear of Super League's ninth-placed team, Catalans Dragons, while Widnes remain rooted to the bottom of the table, adrift by three points.
With five games to go in the regular season, Wakefield could book a Super 8s place should they beat Catalans at home in two weeks' time, while Widnes look certain now to play in the Qualifiers.
The Vikings actually created the first two openings of the day but Joe Mellor was held up before full-back Oliver Ashall-Bott knocked-on when colliding with the posts after an incisive run.
On 18 minutes, Widnes were made to pay for their profligacy as Johnstone showed real pace to notch the first try of the game for Wakefield.
Jones-Bishop was next to cross soon after when he rose to take a Jacob Miller cross-kick, and Trinity would add another 12 points before half-time.
Firstly, Max Jowitt assisted a try for Tupou before Batchelor offloaded to Lyne for another try after a Hampshire kick had started the move, as Trinity went in at the break 22-0 ahead.
Just three minutes into the second period, Tupou was over for his second score and it was only after that, that Widnes opened their account for the day.
Marsh and Walker each got over for tries from close range within six minutes, either side of another Wakefield try - this time for Batchelor.
Arona was next to score for the home side when Gil Dudson and Tom Gilmore hesitated near their own line, but it then seemed as if the Vikings would have the final say when Ince scored a try with two minutes left.
There was still time, however, for Lyne to score in the final play and crown off a miserable afternoon for all of a Widnes persuasion.
