Wakefield Wildcats are without Ryan Atkins and Adam Watene for the visit of Hull FC on Saturday, a match that provides a dress rehearsal ahead of the Carnegie Challange Cup semi-final on July 27.
England international centre Atkins sustained a knee ligament tear in the Wildcats' 60-24 defeat at Warrington on July 6 and it is not yet clear for how long he will be sidelined.
Prop Watene fractured his eye socket playing for the reserves last week and has already been ruled out of the Challenge Cup semi-final.
Better news concerns Jason Demetriou, who has recovered from an ankle injury to take his place in John Kear's initial 19-man squad.
Hull FC trio Garreth Carvell, Matt Sing and Willie Manu all look set to play after making good progress recovering from knocks picked up during last Sunday's defeat at home to Catalans Dragons.
Coach Richard Agar has selected all three in his initial 19-man squad alongside Peter Cusack, who returns from a broken hand to bolster the pack.
Adam Dykes is again absent due to a knee injury.
