Hull KR held off a gusty Salford to complete a 14-10 victory and clinch their fourth straight win on Friday night.
Both sides kept a solid defence in a highly entertaining first half and it was not until the 36th minute that Clint Newton broke the deadlock with a try to give Rovers the lead
The score came courtesy of a Salford penalty for offside on halfway, Newton cutting inside to score under the posts from Dobson's pass.
Dobson added the extras to give Rovers a 6-0 half-time lead,
Salford levelled soon after the interval however, Adam Sidlow power over from close range in the 48th-minute after latching onto Robbie Paul's pass and John Wilshere converting.
but Michael Dobson edged the visitors back in front with a 15-metre penalty on 55 minutes after Craig Stapleton was sin-binned for a late charge on the scrum-half.
Ben Cockayne was also yellow-carded for charging the Australian kicker before Briscoe sealed the win crossed late on from Dobson's pass.
Stefan Ratchford touched down for a consolation try at the death after getting on the end of Jeremy Smith's kick.
But it was not enough to prevent Hull KR's march into into the Super League play-offs.
