Castleford have signed 17-year-old half-back Jake Trueman from Bradford.

Trueman, who came through the academy of the old Bradford club and made his first-team debut last May, has signed a two-year contract with the Tigers.

"Jake is a young player who became available after the difficulties that Bradford faced in the recent past," Castleford coach Daryl Powell said. "We are delighted to acquire the services of a talented young half-back who has a big future in the game."

Trueman, who will make his first appearance for his new club in Friday's pre-season friendly at Batley, added: "I wanted to join Castleford because of the coaching staff on board. I think they can develop and improve me as a player."

Trueman's departure from Bradford comes on the back of England youth international Cameron Scott's move to Hull FC and is another blow for the former Super League champions, who have lost 11 senior players since going into liquidation.
