Leeds captain Danny McGuire is confident of finally making his return to action when they face Castleford on Thursday, live on Sky Sports.

Injuries have limited the half-back to just three appearances out of a possible 14 since being appointed as the successor to Kevin Sinfield.

McGuire hurt his knee in the opening game of the season in February and has since been struggling with a calf injury.

"I've played a couple of times with niggles and I probably came back from my knee [injury] a little bit too soon," he said.

"They are the things you do as a player, you want to get out there and help your team-mates and with the situation we were in at the time, I probably pushed a little bit too hard.

"That's obviously why I've had a couple of little setbacks along the way.

"But I've done everything right this time. I've got a few more boxes to tick with the physio but I'm pretty determined to get back out there and get involved on Thursday.

"It's been really frustrating for me personally and for the team. Hopefully I can start doing what I enjoy doing and what I get paid to do, which is get out there and play."
