Wakefield Trinity's Adam Walker tests positive for cocaine

Wakefield Wildcats' Adam Walker during the Betfred Super League match at Belle Vue, Wakefield.

Adam Walker has tested positive for cocaine and has been banned from all training and playing activity, Wakefield have confirmed.

The 26-year-old prop failed a drugs test after the Betfred Super League win at Widnes on July 14.

A statement from the club read: "Wakefield Trinity received notification from UK Anti-Doping and the Rugby Football League that Adam Walker tested positively for cocaine in a drugs test, following the recent fixture against Widnes Vikings.

"As a consequence, under Rugby Football League anti-doping regulations, he has been suspended from all training and playing activity.

"The club fully respects this suspension and are currently reviewing this matter."

Bradford-born Walker, previously of Huddersfield, Hull KR and St Helens, joined Wakefield in May. He has played seven games for the club this season.

A Scotland international since 2013, he was earlier this week named in Steve McCormack's 40-man initial squad for the 2017 World Cup.
