Salford owner Marwan Koukash is refusing to agree to a Rugby Football League hearing date until he is given more details of allegations against his club.

The millionaire businessman was responding to the RFL's decision to charge the Red Devils with breaching contractual arrangements made with their players in 2014/15.

Salford could be docked as many as 20 points if they are found to have exceeded the £1.825m salary cap over the last two years.

The club were charged last Friday, six weeks after Bradford chairman Marc Green raised questions over their use of the cap during the period, and in particular their signing of Tony Puletua from St Helens in 2014.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, Koukash said: "I have not got any details other than one liners of those allegations.

"I can't go to a lawyer, I can't consult with lawyers and for that reason I am not going to agree to a date for the hearing unless we are given the full evidence that the RFL have.

"They have to give me enough time to consult with my lawyers, prepare a response, bring in the witnesses that we need and only then will I agree to go.

"When I look at the list of allegations, one of them is a car for Niall Evalds that was given to him as player of the season. After that I even approached the RFL and asked 'should I include that in the salary cap?' and the answer is yes.

"We included that in the salary cap in 2015 but we are still getting charged so I fail to understand why they are charging us. Have I made another mistake within that case?

"I don't think I have made a mistake there but could the RFL have made a mistake? Yes, they could have done.

"So I have to absolutely protect the interests of this current squad and if there is any hint at a points deductions, trust me, they will have a fight on their hands."

In response, the RFL released a statement saying: "Any club that is charged in relation to breaches of the RFL operational rules and salary cap regulations will be presented with the full case file of evidence at least 14 days before the hearing takes place.

"The RFL will present its case, the club will have the opportunity to respond and it is then up to an independent tribunal to decide as to whether a breach has occurred and what the subsequent punishment should be."
